Meet Harvey and Rachael Turner – West Region Director
- Harvey Turner
- Jul 17, 2011
- Series: Church Planter Interviews
30 minutes.
Harvey Turner is an Acts 29 member and planter of Living Stones Church in Reno, Nevada. Recently he became Acts 29's Regional Director for the West, which includes Nevada, Northern California (north of Bakersfield) and Hawaii.
Acts 29 staffer, Adriel Ifland, was able to sit down with Harvey and his wife Rachael at the recent Acts 29 Lead Pastors and Wives' retreat in Vail, Colorado, to get to know them a little better and ask them a few questions about their experiences in planting a church.
In this interview:
- Story of Living Stones becoming part of Acts 29
- Learning to watch, guard and build his marriage
- Learning to watch his ego and practice humility: "not believing the hype," remembering that God chooses the foolish things, practicing regular repentence, finding your identity in Christ
- Rachael – on "pastoring" Harvey and caring for him as a wife
- Harvey – on Rachael pastoring him - having a friend, spiritual conversations, etc.
- A wife who pastors her husband by calling him to repentance (tone, timing, respect and love)
- Advice for would-be church planters and their wives
If you're interested in planting a church in the West Region and are curious about Acts 29, you can contact Harvey. If you're sure you want to plant a church with Acts 29, start the application process.
