Darrin Patrick, Lead Pastor of The Journey and Vice-President of Acts 29 Newtwork, spoke at the Francis A. Schaeffer Lectures in October at Covenant Seminary in St Louis, Missouri.
There are many good things in the emerging church. The focus on living authentically in biblical community as well as the desire to reach people in culture are good things. There are bad things in the emerging church such as the fascination with deconstructing almost everything while building almost nothing. And there are ugly things in the emerging church: conversing about God's Word to the neglect of obeying it, deviating from historical orthodoxy and the lack of clarity regarding issues of theology and sexuality.
In the final lecture on the "Emerging Church," Darrin gives his own assessment of what is the good, the bad and the ugly of the church that is emerging.
