Assessment Process
Accurate assessment of church planting potential is essential in a field with a high failure rate. Unless you really like pain and frustration, you do not want to attempt to plant a church unless you have been equipped, gifted and specifically called by God to do so!
The Acts 29 Assessment process has essentially two aspects. The first is based on a series of exams, and the second is simply building relationship. The exams are taken online and are scored objectively. Taken collectively these inventories enable an applicant to be scored in a number of areas relevant to the characteristics of a successful church planter.
The second aspect of our assessment is subjective and relational. This begins as soon as you submit your online application, and enables us to begin to get to know you, and you to get to know us. An essential part of this process is attending our Planter's Boot Camp event. Acts 29 has put together a top-notch boot camp which provides outstanding training by experienced planters. This is valuable training for anyone, but for Acts 29 applicants it is essential. Lead-planter applicants that have completed the assessment exams and online application steps will receive a personal assessment interview (two hours) at Boot Camp with experienced Acts 29 planters. We will sit down for an interview/coaching time with you and your wife (required) after the boot camp training. We will talk about your background, your plans, your strategy and help you evaluate your strengths and weaknesses, and make specific recommendations regarding your readiness and potential in planting. We will help you develop your next steps in church planting. If we recommend you as ready to plant, we will approve you as an Acts 29 candidate, help you establish your action timeline, and include you in the Acts 29 community as you gather your core group.
