Acts 29 Boot Camps are church planting conferences open to the public that focus on the vision of church planting, calling of the planter, mandate to multiply churches and the theological foundation for gospel-centered church planting. The Raleigh-Durham Boot Camp will be hosted by Vintage 21  Church in Raleigh, NC. This camp will be held in connection with the Advance The Church Conference being held April 26-27 at the Summit Church in Durham, NC. Attendance at the Advance the Church Conference is required to attend this one-day boot camp.

Scott Thomas  SCOTT THOMAS

Scott Thomas is the President of Acts 29 and one of four pastors serving Mars Hill Church in Seattle as the Vision Alignment Team. In the last four years under Scott's leadership, Acts 29 has planted over 230 churches (300 total) and has established multiple networks internationally. He is the author of the ebook Theological Clarity and Application. Scott is a frequent speaker and contributor at conferences and he blogs at Acts 29. He developed “10 Characteristics and 60 Micro-skills of a Church Planter,” and this tool is being used to assess church planters all over the world. Scott and his wife Jeannie of 29 years have two sons and live in Seattle.

Matt Carter  MATT CARTER
The Austin Stone Community Church
Matt serves as lead pastor at The Austin Stone, which he planted in 2002. The first meeting of 30 people now encompasses 5,000 worshippers on Sundays, making The Austin Stone one of the 100 fastest growing churches in America. Matt’s vision is to foster the churches passion for Christ, love for each other, and outreach to their communities–ultimately planting churches throughout America and the nations, supporting missionaries who are loving the peoples of the world and bringing them the hope of the gospel. In addition to pastoring at The Austin Stone, Matt is a cancer survivor, author and speaker for camps and conferences nationwide. Matt holds an MDiv from Southwestern Seminary and lives in Austin with his wife, Jennifer, and their children, John Daniel, Annie, and Samuel.

J.D. Greear is the lead pastor of The Summit Church, a rapidly growing church of 4,000 in the Raleigh-Durham area in North Carolina. He did his degree work in Christian and Islamic theology at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. J.D. is committed to the local church and to church planting, having undertaken the goal of planting 1,000 churches in the next 40 years. Currently, they have 12 plants around the world. He has authored a number of publications, including Breaking the Islam Code. He lives in Durham with his gorgeous wife, Veronica, and his four ridiculously cute kids, Kharis, Alethia, Ryah and Adon.

tyler  TYLER JONES
Vintage21 Church
Tyler and his wife Kimberly moved to the Raleigh area in 1997 after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He worked with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at North Carolina State five years before starting Vintage21. After much prayer and guidance, they felt God’s call to begin a church in downtown Raleigh. Vintage21 began in the Fall of 2002 with a small group of people, and currently has over 1,200 people every Sunday. He holds the position of Southeast Regional Director for the Acts29 church planting network. Tyler also is the founder of Advance the Church, a cooperative nondenominational movement to assist in the planting and revitalization of local churches.

Winfield Bevins  WINFIELD BEVINS
Church of the OBX
Winfield Bevins is lead pastor of Church of the Outer Banks, which he planted in 2005. He serves the Acts 29 Network as area director for Eastern North Carolina. Winfield is the author of Grow: Reproducing through Organic Discipleship and also writes for the Resurgence. He is completing a doctorate at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Winfield lives in the Outer Banks with his wife Kay and two daughters Elizabeth and Anna Belle.

Christ the King Presbyterian
Elliot Grudem serves at the Senior Minister at Christ the King Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC, a church he replanted in 2005. Prior to his work in Raleigh, Elliot served as the director of leadership development at Desire Street Ministries, a faith-based, holistic ministry located in New Orleans’s Ninth Ward. Elliot holds degrees from Miami Univeristy (BA, History and English) and Reformed Theological Seminary (M.Div.). He is the editor of Christian Beliefs: Twenty Basics Every Christian Should Know. Elliot is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America and a member of the Acts 29 Network.

jasonroberts  JASON ROBERTS
Crosscurrent Church

Jason Roberts serves as Lead Pastor of Crosscurrent Church, an Acts 29 Network church in Virginia Beach, VA. Crosscurrent is pursuing its vision to live as a partnership in the gospel (Philippians 1:3-11). Jason has been married for 16 years to his bride, Aimee, and they have five children. After 8 years of working on staff with Young Life and various churches in Virginia, Rhode Island and Florida, he and his family moved back to Virginia Beach in July 2002 to plant Crosscurrent Church. Jason’s hope is that Crosscurrent would be used by God to effectively plant neighborhood churches throughout Virginia Beach and the rest of the Hampton Roads region.

If you are interested in undergoing assessment as an Acts 29 Network Church Planter, please complete the online application. **Note: the wife of the planter is required to be at assessment. Assessments will take place on Thursday, April 29 for those who have completed Phase 1 in the application process. Cost for assessment is $99 per couple.
