Monday, October 20, 2008, 11:30 AM - 5:00 PM
On October 20th, 2008 Terra Nova Church is pleased to host a northeast regional event focused on Discipleship in the Church. We’ll look at this issue from a number of angles including the pre-disciple, small groups, counseling and church discipline. Registration is required by simply emailing with your name, and the name and location of your church. All northeast pastors and church leaders are welcome.
The Pre-Disciple: Winfield Bevins of Church of the Outer Banks, NC will deal with assimilation as an entrance to the Discipleship process. Winfield is currently finishing a PHD in Discipleship at Southeastern Seminary.
Small Groups: Ed Marcelle, Lead Pastor of Terra Nova Church, NY will deal with small groups (He calls them New Tribes) and their relationship to Discipleship. Ed will also speak more generally about Discipleship from his Discipleship Spiral.
Counseling: Robert Cheong of Sojourn Community Church in Louisville, KY has developed systems and a great team of lay counselors to meet their pre-marital, post-marital, and ongoing counseling needs and will spend some time talking on these issues.
Church Discipline: Steve Huber of Liberti Church, Philly will talk about how they are training their leaders to handle church discipline. Dave Pinckney of River of Grace, NH will speak from painful experience in handling church discipline.
In addition to our focus on Aspects of Discipleship, there will be break out session discussions for current and aspiring Executive Pastors and Worship Arts Pastors.
One of Terra Nova’s newest bands—Wayfaring Stranger—will lead us in worship.
As always at the Northeast Regional events, you are invited to hang around after the sessions for dinner and drinks next door in the Taproom @ Brown’s Brewing Company .
Registration check in begins at 11:30, with lunch to be served at 12:00NOON. Main sessions will take place in Revolution Hall (the bar we rent for Sunday worship); break out sessions will take place in terra409 (our office, education and gallery space), which is just three doors down from Revolution Hall.
