Briefly describe your story of your call to plant a church
Augusta is my home town. With the revitalization of downtown, I saw an opportunity to plant a church to connect with the creative arts community and downtown community of which I'd been a part. The vision began in 2002 during seminary but took a few years (and a few incarnations) before the church actually began Sunday morning services in September 2006.
What were the biggest challenges you faced in planting your church (and/or currently facing)?
Hometown dynamics, deep southern/church culture
What advice do you have for men who are wrestling with the decision to plant?
Be confident in your call. Be humble and teachable. Be patient and reliant on God. See how the gospel is at work in you, not just through you. Love Jesus. Love your wife. Love your family.
How did you become involved with Acts 29? What have been the biggest benefits of being in the network?
Theological accountability, friendship, encouragement, resourcing.
How do you pastor your family?
Being home often, family fun days, dates, praying together, reading together, involving kids in ministry opportunities.
Outside of the Bible, what is the most helpful book you have read for church planting?
Stetzer and Keller's stuff is a given, right? Larry Osborne, too.
How can we pray for you?
Wisdom and confidence in decisions for bigger/broader gospel ministry opportunities, ongoing provision and protection for my family, a gospel revolution/move of the Holy Spirit in Augusta.

Mission, Vision, Values of Church
- Know-Live-Build.
- Know the Christ of the Gospel.
- Live the Gospel of Christ.
- Build Gospel community in the church and city.
What is your biblical perspective on authentic community, and evangelism? How is this practically seen in your church?
Community is not a thing to be done or created, but an identity to thrive in. Evangelism is not a plan or program, but a natural effect of gospel community. At the Well, we're seeing connections made and relationships deepened in and through the church, but also beyond it- intentional relationships in which sin and idols are being dealt with and edification pursued.
What are some examples of God's grace that you have seen in your life and/or the life of your church?
Ongoing provision and protection through this venture, stronger marriage, spiritual conversations with my 2-year-old daughter.
