Mission, Vision, Values of Church
At Steamtown, our mission is to ensure that every man, woman, and child has repeated opportunities to hear and see the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We value
1) Unconditional Acceptance - No perfect people are allowed
2) Christ-Likeness - Spending time daily with God the Father and trusting Him at His Word in every decision
3) Community That's Centered on the Message of the Cross - Sharing our grace stories, using our spiritual gifts, and regularly practicing the Lord's supper

What are some examples of God's grace that you have seen in your life and/or the life of your church?
There is a profound contrast when God's grace shines through the background of brokenness, and Steamtown Church is a body of very imperfect and broken people. One Steamtown member was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer, lost his father, and lost his job in the same year and, despite the setbacks, pursues intimacy with God because he understands that grace overwhelms suffering. Another member spent nine months separated unjustly from his family and now leads Steamtown worship with a new found sense that grace trumps justice. Another member was diagnosed with bipolar disorder triggered by drug abuse in his teens and now worships in the front row on Sunday Gatherings until falling on his knees with a sense that the Provider of grace will one day restore his mental health to full capacity. These "grace stories" go on and on and it is an absolute blessing to worship together...knowing that in our weaknesses, He is strong!
How can we pray for you?
Steamtown church is five years old and the next three to five years are critical for the long-term health of the body. We have learned to "crawl" and then "walk", but are now entering a new phase of maturing that requires a whole lot of wisdom and oversight. We have just solidified a constitution and are establishing an elder board to guide the church through these critical years and beyond. Please pray forwisdom and for spiritual protection as we consider an alternate Gathering site, additional staff, and an infrastructure for cell groups that will foster spiritual reproduction. We deeply desire to be a part of God's kingdom expansion here in Scranton, PA.
