How did you become involved with Acts 29? What have been the biggest benefits of being in the network?
I had followed Driscoll and A29 for a number of years, and as I was wrestling with planting, I attended a regional event in Atlanta in 2006. I met Kurt Hannah there, and found that he was moving to my town to plant an A29 church. In March of 2007, he called me and asked me to consider planting with him, and in July of '07 we officially joined forces.
A29 has been hugely beneficial, especially in coaching and the willingness of guys in the network to help each other work through issues. It is great having guys a little (or a lot) further down the road in their plants want to lend advice. Additionally, it has given us a lot of credibility with people and organizations who have heard of A29.
What advice do you have for men who are wrestling with the decision to plant?
If you are unsure... wait. Or humble yourself and find someone you can hook up with to learn from. There are a lot of guys who could be lead guys but just aren't ready yet.
How do you pastor your family?
My kids are small, but I read Proverbs with them almost every morning, and work with my 3-yr old on memorizing short verses. We sing a LOT at my house, and the kids are learning some fantastic gospel-saturated songs. We read Bible stories every night, pray for our neighbors & friends, and just talk about Jesus in everyday life. With my wife, we read books together, listen to sermons, and we talk & pray... simple stuff but seems to be effective.
How can we pray for you?
Our third child is coming at the end of July, at the same time, we're sending Kurt Hannah out to plant, and just before we launch a 2nd morning worship gathering. Pray for endurance during this crazy time for us!

Mission, Vision, Values of Church
Missio Dei Church exists because we believe that God is on mission by the power of His Spirit, to transform people into the image of His Son, so that culture begins to take on the image of the His Kingdom.
What are some examples of God's grace that you have seen in your life and/or the life of your church?
We've seen God's grace all over the place, from friends & neighbors coming to Jesus, new marriages we've witnessed, old marriages restored, to the 10 babies we've welcomed into the church this summer alone. It's been amazing to see the gospel of Christ come to life in the hearts of men & women here.
What is your philosophy of community in your church and what does that look like practically in your church? Of evangelism?
We quote Chandler all the time and say we want to be a place where its okay to not be okay. We value people, which means we value being with people, and we really stress that we want to know and be known. Practically that works itself out in community groups, which we operate on a 12-week trimester schedule: Oct-Dec with Jan off; Feb-Apr with May off; and Jun-Aug with Sept off. People commit to being in a group for those 3 months, and at the end, they can either recommit to the same group or switch up or form a new group. This has really worked well for us, and we've seen as high as 70% of attenders in a group.
