Briefly describe your story of your call to plant a church
007, Crossview was officially launched as a new body of committed believers seeking to see Christ move in the Tri-Cities in a radical way. We desire to seek transparency in the church that brings renewal to the hearts of those that call this place home. Since then, under God’s leading, Crossview has grown and expanded to now have two campuses. The first is still meeting on Saturday Nights at KBC, and our other campus is meeting in Richland, at Cheif Joseph Middle School on Sunday Mornings. We are so thankful for the momentum that God has provided and look forward to what He is going to do in the years to come!
How did you build up your core? What advice would you give to guys in the core-stage?
Found men and women that love Jesus and were willing to be in community together. Also being up front with the group from the beginning with the mission and vision God has given you is key. Also it is important that encouraging and equipping your group all along the way will help grow them into leaders in Christ's Church.
What were the biggest challenges you faced in planting your church (and/or currently facing)?
It was difficult being a full-time teacher and Lead Pastor. Praise God that He has provided the means for me to be a full time pastor. The biggest challenge is getting others to understand that every believer is called to full-time paid ministry, God just chooses to route our paychecks through different sources.
How did you become involved with Acts 29? What have been the biggest benefits of being in the network?
I was invited to an Acts 29 event in Tri-Cities and loved it. Our leadership jumped into a bootcamp this last summer and we are super excited to have the support from Acts 29 leadership. Paul Dean and Jason Williams have been a great support and pastors that I'm blessed to know.
What advice do you have for men who are wrestling with the decision to plant?
Do the Acts 29 bootcamp and read Darrin Patrick's book, The Church Planter.
What's the most important thing you'd want to share with a new church planter?
Make Jesus your corner stone and realize it's His church. He is the Senior pastor.
How do you pastor your family?
Leave stress at the cross. When I'm on my way home pray that Jesus will use me to bless my family with Spiritual fruit only He can provide them. Nightly devotionals and prayer time is also key.
Outside of the Bible, what is the most helpful book you have read for church planting?
Confessions of a Reformission Rev by Mark Driscoll
