Call to Plant
I had been a youth pastor for about 4 and a half years when God began to change my passions, desires, intensions, motivations, etc... God slowly began to reveal His desire for my wife and i to move on and to plant a church. We didn't know what that looked like but the passion for planting grew stronger until it was, honetly, irresistable. We began sharing our heart and vision with friends who confirmed the call in our life. a year and half later we launched the Village. (this is of course the short of it...)
Involvement with Acts 29
I heard about A29 from a friend years ago. I read a few Driscoll books, notably, CONFESSIONS OF A REFORMISSION REV., which was very helpful to inspire mission and to inform of the life that a church planter/church plant will lead. The benefits ...

Call to Plant
My call to Portland began subjectively as God grew a desire to plant in an under-reached city. Portland, Oregon is an Evangelical Donut. 10% Evangelical in the Suburbs, but only 2% Evangelical in the Urban Core. We are planting in the urban core, a place that desperately needs more churches.
I am increasingly convinced that God has wired me to be a “directional/visionary leader” in a church. I come from an entre-preneurial family and much of the day-to-day in church planting comes intuitively. I am a good fit for Portland because I am adaptive and open to new approaches and strate-gies. The traditional-attractional approach has been largely ineffective in Urban Portland the past 20 years, evidenced by the low percentage believers in the city (2%). My wife and I ...

Call to Plant
I had been a church planter in Atlanta before having started Northside Community Church (an EFCA church) in 1984. I pastored Northside for twenty years and left the senior pastor role to lead our mission ministry. I eventually became the executive pastor at the Atlanta Vineyard. My youngest son, James (29), was working with me on the staff of the Atlanta Vineyard where he served as the youth pastor. This is a congregation with a rich church planting history. When the Vineyard trustees asked me to consider leading a new church plant, I felt God's calling to pioneer a new work again here in the Atlanta area. When James decided God would have him join in the effort, we were all the more certain of God's clear direction. So I am the lead pastor at Generations but we share the ...

Call to Plant
My dad pastored in NH starting in 1965 (I was born in NY in 1963). I was called to pastor while a sophmore in college. I pastored a historic small town baptist church from 1987-1997 (now Countryside Community Church). In 97 I joined the staff of a mega church in York PA (Living Word Community Church). In 2001 the Lord started "hitting me" with the concept of returning to NH to plant a church in the capital City of Concord. After much prayer and affirmation, we were "boots on the ground" by July 2002.
How did you become involved with Acts 29?
Having been connected to the Young Leaders Network in the late 90's, it became a natural fit to plug into A29 when God called us to plant. The biggest benefit is ...

Call to Plant
I grew up in a traditional church. As I followed Jesus, the idea of missions became more and more my focus. This led me to the concept and world of church planting. As I investigated what this looked like, I felt a calling to pursue this. I pursued training with Mars HIll Church in Seattle, and God graciously provided a years worth of intensive development there. After that time, and through some coaching, we moved to the Raleigh area in partnership with Vintage21 Church. As I invested in some seminary classes near by, I worked along side with them and eventually was led to help develop a brand new campus in Durham. Beginning with a small core, we've labored to help others Know, Live, & Build the gospel in this city, and we're seeing more and more come to follow ...
