Call to Plant
I grew up in a traditional church. As I followed Jesus, the idea of missions became more and more my focus. This led me to the concept and world of church planting. As I investigated what this looked like, I felt a calling to pursue this. I pursued training with Mars HIll Church in Seattle, and God graciously provided a years worth of intensive development there. After that time, and through some coaching, we moved to the Raleigh area in partnership with Vintage21 Church. As I invested in some seminary classes near by, I worked along side with them and eventually was led to help develop a brand new campus in Durham. Beginning with a small core, we've labored to help others Know, Live, & Build the gospel in this city, and we're seeing more and more come to follow ...

Many pastors use their shepherding ministry to hide from their own sins, deficiencies, and flaws. I first came on staff at a church when I was only 19.
…The pastor was sexually involved with several women in the church.
I remember the confrontational meeting I had with the pastor and the deacons of the church. Without hesitation, all of them said this pastor was there every time they were in the hospital, or had a need, or had a sick child. They basically said because this pastor was such a good shepherd, they were going to overlook his sexual immorality. By Jake Johnson The other night, over 40 people whom I’d never met—most non-Christians—partied at my house. The occasion? It was a baby shower for the daughter one of my Missional Community member’s bosses. Pregnant out of wedlock with a boyfriend who’s a nice guy but just coming out of drug addiction, this poor girl had no one willing to celebrate the coming of her baby and lacked the necessities needed for a newborn. So we threw her a shower. Jessica, a newer Christian in our community, brought the opportunity to our attention and organized the whole event, inviting all her co-workers and rallying Christians and non-Christians alike to bless this young girl with dozens upon dozens of gifts and to show her unconditional love.
