Dwell Conference - London

Mark Driscoll and I are heading to England this morning. Mark is speaking to NewFrontiers a group of 3,000+ pastors gathered together just south of London. Their leader, Terry Virgo (one of the largest churches in the UK) is a Calvinist charismatic. Mark will have a great influence on the UK as he speaks about The Ox, Religion vs. the Gospel, Movements are Messy, Spirit-led Missions, Male and Female and the Trinity, Death by Ministry, Planting Radical Churches and Leadership Lessons.

On Friday night, Mark is speaking in Central London at an event we arranged entitled, "Driscoll Unleashed on the UK." It is a free event at St James Church, Clerkenwell Close, London, EC1R 0EA  Worship will precede.

On Saturday, Mark, Steve Timmis and I will be speaking at a church planting conference that we arranged, Dwell London - Grace for the City. David Fairchild, our Acts 29 International European Representative will be accompanying Steve Timmis after spending a few days with Steve to discuss Radstock plans.

On Sunday Mark is speaking at two influential churches- Jubilee just north of London and in the evening at Church of Christ the King in Brighton where Terry Virgo and his son Joel (lead pastor) serve.

My friend, Adrian Warnock has a nice interview with Terry Virgo on his blogsite. Adrian has talked about Mark Driscoll and Terry Virgo in one blog. He had several great and unique interviews with our friend Ed Stetzer.

Here is what Terry said about Mark in Adrian’s blog, “I’ve been listening to Mark Driscoll over the last year or so, I guess. I’m deeply impressed with his biblical stance. I think he’s an unusually powerful preacher. He is also bitingly relevant to our generation and aware of the culture in which we live. I think he’s very unusual. He’s not only fighting for the truth in some sort of static way of just defining the doctrine. He reminds me of a kind of latter day Spurgeon. He’s very clear on doctrine. He’s very evangelistic, building a great church, it sounds, helping to plant churches in Acts 29—again like Spurgeon, who helped to get churches started all around London. You hear about people in Australia who were reading his sermons a week or so after he preached them in London as they printed them and sent them round the world. And now Driscoll’s been downloaded all over the world. He’s an unusual guy, very robust, like Spurgeon was, out of step somewhat, even with his group. But I love what I hear. I’ve yet to meet him, but I love what I hear.”

And we can’t wait to meet Terry!

Pray for us that men would join Jesus in His mission to plant churches in the UK.

It is wonderful to see the leaders of these visionary and Godly organizations come together! I have been involved in a newfrountiers church plant for the last five years, and so have a tremendous respect for Terry, Joel, and the rest of the newfrountiers leadership team. I am excited to see what influence Mark and the A29 folks will have on the church family!

Strangely enough I'm an English guy from a New Frontiers church in Bedford, England doing a New Frontiers church planting internship in St Louis, MO, with Jubilee Church just down the road from Darrin Patricks Journey Church. Gutted not to be in Brighton at the Conference with many of my friends but can't wait to download all the talks. Already listened to Marks first talk. Quality!

ps. I heard a few of my friends took him and Scott out for their first 'fish and chips'!
